This emblem is also the means by  which the main aim of  Wspolnotowa Polityka Rolna (Joint Agricultural Policy) is being carried out. This aim relates to expanding the availability if high quality  food products on the market of the European Union.

Poznaj Dobra Zywnosc is also an advertisement slogan that promotes a program of the Ministry of Agriculture - the program that informs consumers about high quality food products. The participation in the program is optional and it includes all the countries that belong to the structures of the EU.

PDZ program commenced in May 2004 and the first emblems were given during the Polagry Fair in September. The Committee of Science, consisting of scientists and experts in the area of quality food, decides about granting the awards. A company that was awarded can use the emblem for three years and in case of receiving the emblem again the period is extended for the next two years.
