In memory of Col. Narcyz Wiatr aka “Zawojna” a new memorial was unveiled on the Polish Independence Day on 12th of November in Nowy Sacz.
Colonel Narcyz Wiatr “Zawoja” was an activist of Polish people's movement and later at the time of World |War II a leader of Peasants' Battalions in Malopolska and Silesia. He was murdered by the communist secret police in Krakow in 1945. He was born in Stroze where his memory is still cherished. He is the patron of two primary schools, in Wilczyska and Rogi.
The celebration of unveiling the memorial commenced with a Mass, followed by a procession to the Old Cementary where the monument was erected. The ceremony was attended by a number of guests, including the representatives of local authorities, schools, fire-fighters, scout's associations, veterans associations and people from the area of Stroze. The event ended with a concert of patriotic music.
