Marching for bees protection

Fellow Beekeepers,

On 15th of March 2012 (Tuesday) in Warszawa there will take place a national demonstration in protection of bees. It has been initiated by a number of beekeeping communities including amateur and professional beekeepers, beekeeping associations and public organizations aiming at reducing the expansion of GMO crops and their negative influence on the natural environment.
The main goal of the demonstration is to attract the attention of Polish politicians and Polish society in general  to the problem of excessive agricultural chemicalization and introduction of so called 'third generation pesticides' which are highly toxic and result in drastic decline of bee population.
After the march, there will be held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Develepment and the Minister of Environment Protection. The meeting will give us, beekeepers, the opportunity to present our demands, requirements and proposals regarding the issue of beekeeping efficiency and profitability, as well as, the pressing matter of CCD.

On behalf of Polish Beekeeping Association I would like to invite everyone inclined to support us and participate in the "March in Protection of Bees". It will begin at 12 o'clock from the Zygmunt's Column and will head towards the House of Parliament.
In addition, the meeting with the Ministers will commence at 2 o'clock, after which, at 3 o'clock, a press conference will take place.

Dear Reader,
Beekeeping is crucial for our families, our employees and their families, producers and apiaries holders for all of whom selling honey is an essential source of financial means. For majority it is not only the source of income and profession itself but also their passion and fulfilment of their dreams. We, the beekeepers who are especially aware of the importance of the situation, should show our support and take an active part in the March.
I am asking you to come to Warszawa. Take your family, friends and employees with you. Tell your fellow beekeepres not involved in any beekeeping association and assist them in their arrival to the capital.

The is no doubt that the phenomenon of Colony Collapse Disorder is at Polish borders. One of its possible cause is the widely spread usage of neonicotinoid insecticides and the reduction of traditional grain and oil crops for the employment of GMO planting. The spring is coming. It is the time when everything comes back to life and it is also the best moment to alarm as many people as possible in our society about this immediate threat.

Once more, I beseech you: come and show your active support by taking part in THE MARCH FOR PROTECTION OF BEES.

With regards,

Chairman of the Board
Janusz Kasztelewicz
