Beehive of the Millennium Beekeeping Museum |
Like every year, the main attraction was the figure of St. Ambrose, the Saint Patron of beekeepers. This year was no exception since a few new 2 meters long sculpture beehives have been included into the collection of the Museum of Polish Beekeeping History.
Two years ago, a number of such beehives made an impression in the participants of the Apimondia Congress in French Montpellier in 2009. Situated in two opposite rows, they decorated the alley leading to the congress centre. They appeared to be not only an enormous attraction for the visitors as they kept taking photos with them, but also a kind of ambassadors of a thousand-year-old history of Polish beekeeping.
The sculptors also found the time for less challenging projects.
The caricaturists depicted nature through a crooked mirror while painters looked for inspiration in the area of "Sadecki Bartnik" Beekeeping Farm, including the Beekeeping Outdoor Museum, and in observing the every day work of a bee and a beekeeper in the local landscape of the Beskids.
The results of the event will be displayed on three exhibitions at the 20th Besiada at Bartnik that will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of June.
We would like to remind everyone about the 4th edition of the Photo Contest "Bee and its environment", co-organized by the "Nasza Ziemia Grybowska" Association.
