This richly illustrated picture book is intended for a wide range of readers. It depicts the world of insects where bees are indispensable. They appeared on Earth about 200 ml years ago and they accompany the human kind from its beginning. For millions of years, bees have remained constant in their industriousness, order of social structure and working harmony. They have an enormous influence on the stability of ecosystems and vegetation fertility on which the very existence of humans depend.

We take bees for granted, we do not notice them and treat them as an obvious element of our economy, culture and art. Until recently we have not realised how our growing intervention into natural order of things, including chemicalizing agriculture, could cause their annihilation and in result trigger negative environmental changes possibly leading even to global famine. The phenomenon of Colony Collapse Disorder that has been plaguing the world for a decade with no one certain cause is the alarming signal for the whole human kind.
