37th "Apimondia" - Durban 2001

The International Beekeepers' Congress "Apimondia" in Durban (The Republic of South Africa) was held between 24th of October and 4th of Novemeber 2001. Understandably, it was slightlly less sumptuous due to the considerably high transport cost connected with the ApiExpo exhibition.

The exotic features of African nature and beekeeping were the main attractions for the incoming visitors. Almost no one missed the chance to take part in a bloodless safari. For Polish participants it was also a unique opportunity to meet quite numerous Polish community in the RSA.

The most pleasant, however, were the results of the final competition. Polish crew, in patticular beekeeping publishing houses, was appreciated by the Commission. The innovative work of Dr Zbigniew Lipinski entitled "Istota ioraz mechanizm porzucania gniazd przez roje pszczoly miodnej" and the album "Ule i pasieki w Polsce" issued by the Publishing House "Sadecki Bartnik" were awarded with golden medals. Also the honey mead produced by "Sadecki Bartnik" received the silver medal.
